Colleague: Hello, [company].
Janvier (mechanical voice): [Colleague], zhao an!
Colleague: Shi me zhao an? Shi wan an!
Janvier (still mechanical voice): Ah! Dui bu qi! [Colleague], wan an!
Colleague: Wan an!
Janvier: Ni hao bu hao?!
Colleague: Wo hen hao? Ni le?
Janvier: Wo ye hen hao!
Colleague: Hen hao hen hao!
Janvier: Wo yao wen ta ni...
Colleague: Ah, shi me?
Janvier (normal voice): It's about the end of this year, when are the dates that we're supposed to be coming down...
Yes well we told our colleague we'd have to use Google Translate if we wanted to speak in Mandarin any further.

Inspiring Video
So esteban sends an email to the lot of us, titled 'Inspiring Video', saying:
Hi All....
Just stumbled on this video... very meaningful and kudos to the director...
Must watch soonest....
Plus a link to the video. We know esteban to be someone who would actually watch inspirational Chicken-Soup-For-The-Soul kind of videos, so for us there wasn't really any urgency to follow the link to the video immediately (that, plus the fact that the video couldn't play on our iPhone).
Then, the other Taman Tun-ites start replying to the email, and the general gist was that it wasn't so much a motivational inspiring video but a comedic one. Still, since we couldn't watch it on-the-go we pretty much forgot about it, until lad asked us about it today.
lad: hey
lad: did you check out esteban's movie yet?
Janvier: not yet!
Janvier: cos it doesn't play on the iphone
lad: oh
lad: i think you'd appreciate it the most
lad: takes time to load
And so, we followed the link to the video. And waited. And waited. It really was a rather long wait. And in the end, the video played... Midway watching it at the height of suspense, we were slightly puzzled and freaked out. Then we started laughing, realizing why lad said we would appreciate it the most!
And we forwarded it to the BFF, thinking that the video would be personalized to the person watching it! Sent out this email:
If you're feeling lost, or down, or just feeling uninspired, this is the best time to watch this.
For the divas, you know this video was meant to be for you.
In any case you guys should watch this ASAP!
That, and the link to the video. Only...after a while chatting on with lad we came to the realization that the link we sent to the BFF might be misinterpreted as being rather muka tebal, and so we quickly emailed them again saying it was a wrong link and that we would send them the correct one soon.
Then everyone got a personalized one, much to different reactions!
Oh well, if you've watched the video already, go have fun!

Cryptic Crosswords
lad: treasure hunt training
Janvier: Ooh. Cool beans.
And that began rather badly, because when we found out it was a crossword puzzle site that lad sent us to, and even after giving it an initial go, we soon enough closed the tab after only managing to solve one word and was stumped over the rest.
Then somehow or another, we actually found ourself opening another tab back to the site again, and this time we went through the tutorial, and found out that all the clues do not test current general knowledge to a Trivial Pursuit extent!
'Political party that uses braille (7)' does not need us to know what kind the name of political parties at all (well yes, since it's an Australian website we can pretty much rule out the answer being BN or PKR or summat)!
And the tutorial made it clear: the clues are somewhat similar to those we've been facing in our treasure hunts. Goodness.
Of course, we've only been playing on the easy difficulty for crossword puzzles so far, we've yet to see if the harder ones will trump us. After that we shall check the newspapers to see if those are the same. If so, all the more practise for us!
And we'll hopefully do better (that is, faster) this year!

Christmas Project 2008
Now this year we must admit that we were a tad tight on the wallet so we decided that it was time to put our ambigram sketchings to good use for Christmas - by making personalized frames for our mates. Unfortunately, we didn't have the resources with us to make very nice frames and the likes, but thankfully we already had in mind what we wanted to do.
Then of course midway through our project lad and us were chatting and the following took place:
lad: btw i dunwant any present above RM10 from you
* i mean Xmas
Janvier: s'not like you getting Mont Blanc name card from us
lad: i remember books before.. no need so ex pls
i'm too lazy to reciprocate
Janvier: omg read that as no sex please
XS
lad: hhahaah
Janvier: haha you don't have to worry this year
calculated not ex
lad: haha
Janvier: in fact, barely RM5 per person :D
lad: yay.
Well when it comes to gift-giving there's no need for reciprocation really, and it's not as if we're giving away PS3s or something blatantly expensive that'll make a dent in our wallet. But well this time around we were thinking of carrying out this project so we would say that it was timely.
So. Christmas Project!
Bought a couple of iKea CLIPS photo frames.
Print out ambigrams, then photocopy ambigrams onto transparency (because we don't have a laser printer).
Print out photographs. It took some finding our picture archives for them. Here's lad in his Christmas garb when we were in Genting in 2005. Trim photo and cardboard frame to size to match CLIPS frame.
Now the interesting bit, where we make a frame for the photos. Well we could have just left the photo by itself, but the purpose of the frame was to make the ambigram visible and focus on just the subject of the photo. So here we line up the photo and the cardboard and mark lines to cut out.
And how it looks like once it's all fixed up.
Now for this year's wrapping. Last year was silver, with tags made out a brown letter all cut up. This year we went back to green, still using iKea wrapping paper (one roll fits all).
Interestingly we chose to go green after we bought candy canes. Initially, we'd thought since we'd gotten green candy canes we needed to go for red wrappers for the contrast, but we couldn't put down that wrapper and it fit the job perfectly.
Well we're having the Secret Santa gift exchange this year too, and assuredly our recipient is not getting the same kind of gift as detailed above. In above case, with one exception the rest of them had ambigrams along with their photo frames.
Before we finish, something that we've done for a couple of years now...
And so (this is a tad late but still) Blessed Christmas everyone!

Into The West
And so we've done an open rehearsal and the first evening for The Lord Of The Ring Symphony. And it doesn't fail that, each time we come to near the end we gets a tad touched.
It's somewhat like how l'agneau orange puts it (more cut-paste again here!):
l'agneau orange: so we watches lotr AGAIN over the weekend
3 and 2
with commentary this time (yes our nerdiness is overwhelming)
pippin n merry were funny as expected
wat we din expect was theoden being funny
Janvier: oh we hasn't done commentry for 3 yet
and we still hasn't own 2
l'agneau orange: we does em backwards
if we does 3 last it;ll be too sad
so in 3
there were close up shots of legolas riding
Janvier: too sad???
l'agneau orange: and pippin was like "whos that? hes beautiful"
Janvier: hahaha
l'agneau orange: merry agress
then shot to aragorn
"ahhhh and hes beautiful too"
Janvier: hahahaha
l'agneau orange: "but in a scary way"
haha
Janvier: lol
l'agneau orange: and miranda otto was just gushing abt vigo mortensen :P
she was like "theres me looking at a blue screen here....theres nothing out there so i wanst looking at gorgeous aragorn"
and saying how the muddier he is the better he looks :P
oh oh and there was this part when theoden and aragorn were really close together talking
and theoden says for one shot viggo kisses the tip of his nose
lol
theoden aka bernard hill says
the next day a make up girlpasses him a note and asks him to pass that to viggo
the note says "if you kiss me on the nose i'll be yours forever"
hahhahahah
Well we don't watch the trilogy backwards but we started finding the music for the Grey Haven bits to be a bit touching now. Partly 'cos we hum along to the music where elves leave Middle-Earth to sail to the west (and there's the feeling that things are coming to an end). Speaking of things coming to an end, when we do reach the final bit where the soloist sings 'Into The West', it does capture that sense that, it's now finally at the end of the journey, you can rest (the guitar and violin strumming greatly set the mood)...
And yes, after every exhausting two and a half hours, the prospect of rest is very enticing...

Lay down
Your sweet and weary head
Night is falling
You have come to journey’s end
Sleep now
Dream—of the ones who came before
They are calling
From across a distant shore...

Stanford Storytelling
We've no time to really blog for now because rehearsals are on every day this week as LORD OF THE RINGS SYMPHONY PERFORMS THIS FRIDAY!!!!! Goodness it's almost time! We've still got to make sure our score has all the required notes like reminders to stand/sit at which bars, breathing points etc. So, for now we shall cut-paste material. What kind of material? Let's give you a sample.
Janvier: his hands running through hair and exposed skin on back
smooth fingers causing electric jolts and he finds g-spot after g-spot
simple, light touches
tongues on his nipples now
his breathes are short
the undie strap is adjusted slightly
to allow...
Yes. We shall cut-paste chats from our GTalk of when we were chatting with Stanford and somehow it reaches a point where we hijack the conversation into some daytime erotica. Now since Stanford swings for the other team, we had to skew our conversations to keep him interested. Now the chat is rather PG-rated in some ways, we don't just use the words you find in Mills And Boons or the likes.
Janvier: why bitchfight when can threesome
esp threesome at our table
then prolly the girls will have better luck getting his shirt off
Stanford: i don't wanna watch str8 porn
Janvier: edit out the girls lah
Stanford: ink on the white cloth
Janvier: just a drop hor?
hmm if we write the screenplay
let's see
threesome
they get his shirt off
heck cares the state of clothings on the girls
prolly one of the girl's straps are already undone
now his jeans are unbuttoned
Stanford: oh oh... there's this type of porn, whereby all the females are clothed and the guy is naked
Janvier: showing off that white undies he was wearing
Stanford: shit!
white wet undies
Janvier: it's slightly moist
Stanford: precum?
Janvier: near the strap
Stanford: outline of a hard rod?
Janvier: a finger travels from sternum to belly button...
don't think there's a treasure trail on that boy
Stanford: damn
strip him!
Janvier: now, a knee slowly treading the crotch
a tongue running down the side of his cheek
to just below the ear
down the side of the neck
Stanford: do u have to be explicit here.....
gosh
Janvier: another blows into the other ear
akakakakakkaa
our mental filters are still workign fine you know
your keyboard sticky lliao kah
Stanford: wet tongue on the neck
nolah.... it's just that i'm glad i'm not wearing jeans
Janvier: :s
why?
Stanford: i need space now
:P
Janvier: wakakakaka
ish
Stanford: ish? u write so explicit!
Janvier: so? pakai filter sikit lah! :D
you want us to continue?
Stanford: cannot! it's natural response!
i wanna have lunch already!
need some cooling down time
Janvier: so you see, threesome even got girls, you dah naik
Stanford: u r talking what's happening on the hot guy
Janvier: hmmm
after blowing into his ear
a nose breathes down the back of the neck
he arches slightly
Stanford: lalalalalallalalala
Janvier: his hands running through hair and exposed skin on back
smooth fingers causing electric jolts and he finds g-spot after g-spot
simple, light touches
tongues on his nipples now
his breathes are short
the undie strap is adjusted slightly
to allow...
ok tahap maksima dah
consider this 3-star material
cannot write too explicit about ppl's friends
Stanford: wakakakaka
Y'know, this cut-paste business isn't as easy as it looks as we have to search through hundreds of chat history just for the couple of stories!
Janvier: surely you've eaten choc off your bf's bod already
or was it the other way around?
Stanford: eyer
Janvier: apa eyer
Stanford: we eat from box one la
Janvier: chocolate sauce
Stanford: where got so unhygenic!
Janvier: warm from heating up
poured over your chest
a bit at a time, so that it doesn't harden
something warm enveloping you
well, your longkang between your pecs then
lol
then a moist tongue rolling upwards
up your neck
up your chin
chocolate facesuck
So happens today we were chatting with him again and so another story sorta pop up after we'd hijacked whatever he wanted to tell us (hijacked in a good way, of course).
Stanford: ~~~~~breathless laughters~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Janvier: so what happened?
Stanford: coz i never bothered about him at uni
then he appeared like twice in few months time
Janvier: appeared? in your dreams?
Stanford: yeah
kinda sexual
Janvier: c'mon...you can share the erotic details
you know, like how the two of you embarked on a journey of discovery...
his belt undone...the pants clasp open and his zip halfway down...
he was breathing hard and fast, after all, it's his first time 'blossoming'...
Stanford: that's your dream!
Janvier: you...you were already hard but going slow...
you didn't want to scare him...knowing how your first time it can be scary...
you trailed your finger down his chest
Stanford: 1st time is not scary la
it's fun!
Janvier: between his pecs...feeling his heaving chest
his shirt was unbuttoned and he was warm to touch
Stanford: u can be an erotic novel writer
hehehe
Janvier: down his flat, 6-pack visible but not overdefined for his lean tone...
Stanford: u know i got good imagination right?
Janvier: after your index finger slips past his belly button, you can feel the start of his bush trailing down
when you reached his boxers...he suddenly clasps both hands around both your arms just above the elbows
you can see he's panting heavily now...
so you lean over and whisper, "it's okay, let me take care of you...just close your eyes..."
Stanford: yummy
u should become a soft porn writer
or draw yaoi manga
:P
Janvier: your index finger hooks the zip and pulls it downwards slowly...
the tip of your index finger can feel his shaft
slowly hardening as you trail down the length
Stanford: ooooooooo
Janvier: the strength of which he holds your arms weaken slightly, his stance leans forwards and he rests his forehead on your shoulder...
when your hand heads back up to hook his boxers, you feel a slight wetness there
he is leaning heavily on you...
soon he's pinned you against the wall...you haven't pulled down his boxers yet...
but you're rubbing the wet area of the boxer gently...
he starts pushing his hips in a slow, rocking motion against you...
Stanford: then? :P
oh my :P~~~
Janvier: your other hand starts pulling up your own tee shirt...
but with his head still resting heavily on your shoulder, you can't take it off...
so you take one of his hands, slowly peel it off your arm and bring it towards your body...
bring his arm down to your waistline...and you guide it up underneath your t-shirt
he's exploring on his own now...
you can here him making slight "uh...uhhh..." noises
Stanford: heavenly
Janvier: you hand leaving his, you wet your fingers in your mouth...
the other hand stops rubbing his grinding wet boxers...
and pulls the boxer garters so his head can peek out
and you start rubbing your wet fingers all over his head where the foreskin is pulled back
he let's out a low cry
and gushes while he starts pushing his groin on yours
out of nowhere, he grabs your t-shirt collar with both hands and tears your tshirt apart!
Stanford: wah! ganas!
Janvier: then he bites your shoulders as he gushes out sticky fluids all over your fingers
he's pumping you hard and his muscles are twitching
you can feel your pants getting wet
from all his juice
Stanford: pumping as in?
Janvier: oh no he's not in
Stanford: ooo... frottage! nice
Janvier: pumping against your hand that you've gripped gently
made slippery with the fluids that's now a slippery lubricant
Stanford: aha... i know that feeling...
:P
Janvier: so
so so so
tell us your version now
habis kita hijack your weird dream dah XD
Stanford: hey! finsih the story!
Oh well seems that there weren't much of those kinda chats with Stanford. With the Chief now, that's different and not appearing here, heh.

Buenos Dias Blablabla
Janvier: Attendance check!
January: Hmmm?
Januar: What's this about?
Janvier: We seem to have a new feller who'd somehow joined us.
Yatyue: Really? How can? Who?
Janvier: Come on, out here, you.
Xavier: Hola.
January: Whoa! Where did you come from?
Xavier: But I have always been here, amigo.
January: No you've not!
Janvier: All right, details now.
Xavier: Xavier Soler, at your service. That is pronounced, 'Cha-vi-air So-lay'.
Janvar: Hmmm. Sounds like a fan of yours, Janvier Soldat.
Janvier: Just because the name sounds similar doesn't mean the same thing.
Lanuarius: So what seems to be the problem with Xavier?
Janus: Oh yes, it was Xavier who had us in a bit of a spot when we were in Barcelona.
Lanuarius: Oh, were there troubles in Barcelona? I do not seem to recall them.
Janvier: You were probably too busy admiring the architecture and reminiscing about Europe.
Januar: Oh you meant that bit of awkwardness.
Janus: Every single day.
Xavier: Que?
Janvier: There you go again.
Yatyue: Haiyo. Shy only sometimes.
January: It was actually quite fun.
Januar: Yeah. Awkward but interesting. Still, how did Xavier came about?
Enero: Actually, it's me. Eh heh.
Janvier: Now it clears up. Had your bit of fun in Barcelona, eh?
Enero: Well you weren't any better in Brussels and Paris, we remember.
In preparation for our Barcelona trip we had brought along our Time Out guide and we also downloaded an application from iTunes - lastminute.com's Spanish guide. Very handy, both of 'em.
Now asides from our Spanish colleagues, the locals were notably friendly too. Always a cheery "Hola!" as we went about. So naturally we "Hola!" back. Just like how we'd go "Hiya!" when in Glasgow. Back here it's anything from "Zhou san," to "Elo," to just a wave of the hand.
So one morning as we were entering the pickup van that takes us all to our office, we greets the driver. The driver greets us back, and launches a long spout of Spanish (or Catalan) that made no sense to our limited vocabulary, what more the rest of our colleagues who aren't Spanish. We only understood his 'hola' and 'traffico'.
The driver probably understood that we all "no entienda el español" when the whole van was rather quiet after his friendly banter. And probably some of us were nodding our heads slowly with that uncertain smile one normally has when in a situation like this. But the rest of the journey that morning was rather uneventful thankfully.
The other incident involved our cab to Barcelona Aeroport. As we didn't manage to cover all Barcelona we had the cabbie make a detour to the Arc de Triomf for us to take some photos before dropping us off at the aeroport airport.
Janvier: Er, primero, er L'arc de Triomf, y... (somehow thinks in French, because primier is first, and deuxieme is second, and was thinking how to put it in Spanish) ...dosieme (and fails splendidly, checking back the Spanish app it's segundo)... er Aeroport.
Cabbie: [Quickfire Spanish].
Janvier: Er, (gives up, thrusts camera into cabbie's face) photo! Photo!
Cabbie: Ah! Photo!
Thankfully from there it was easy for us. A quick "Uno momento!" while we scarpered to take photos, and then, "Terminal B" when asked where he should drop us off, and no more Spanish.
Yet somehow, we think we'd be far better off in Spain than we would in Hong Kong/China. At the least, we could read some of the words.

The Adventures Of Ms Joelle: The Castrati Cages
This story sorta came up while chatting with Shuku. We actually considered drawing it, but realized that it'll take far too long for us to commit proper work to draw it properly. And we intended it to be just a quick short story, rather than a proper one so what we're gonna just do is cut-paste and edit bits of it.
Shuku: Prettyboys.
Janvier: You're watching prettyboys? Castrati? Locked permanently in a cage. Always having to sing for his meals.
Janvier: Dressed only in a simple white gown...whenever the master comes home...he must sing.
Shuku: Not quite so extreme, thankfully.
Janvier: When the master is lounging in the garden sipping drinks reading...he must continually sing.
Shuku: ...you're scaring me. I could turn that into a story very easily.
So anyways we've just took what we wrote in the chat, editted it slightly and dumped it here:
"Ah, Ms Joelle. So good of you to visit."
"Of course Monsieur Poe. The Academy is very appreciative of your generous donations."
"Only a trifle."
"But what we find more impressive, Mssr Poe, is your vast collection of castrati chorals."
"Ah. Perhaps you'd like to come in to see? There's no need to chat here by the gates."
"Most gladly!"
As they walk through the garden they are accompanied by voices singing.
"Here. Come into the sitting room."
Mssr Poe sits Ms Joelle in a comfy chaise-lounge, and proceeds to tap a password on the security panel on the far wall. As he finishes, a wall panelling slide back to reveal an iron bar cage only as high as Mssr Poe's waist. The cage is filled full with young boys.
The image of chickens in a coop came to Ms Joelle's mind. The boys look cooped but not uncomfortable. All of them wear white smocks, and looks as if they've been brought up all their life in a cage.
Mssr Poe taps the cage twice with a ringed finger. A boy, someone in the back of the cage, starts to sing.
"Just marvellous, Mssr Poe!"
"Come, Ms Joelle, we shall dine here while my boys sing for us."
"Enchanted."
Mssr Poe wheeled in a tray, and set a table near the fireplace. The boys continued to sing.
"The dinner is sumptuous, Mssr Poe. I cannot identify the sauce, but I must say the meat is tender."
"A family secret, Ms Joelle. I'm glad you enjoy it."
"One question, Mssr Poe...I noticed that all your boys are of various age, but none seem to be older than twelve..."
"Of course, a voice cracking is horrendoes to hear."
"What happens when they grow up, then?"
Mssr Poe leans forward across the table and smiles broadly at Ms Joelle.
"Why, how are you enjoying your dinner, Ms Joelle?"
Hmmm, some notes about the story:
The children never learned how to speak - only sing.
They have to sing for their meals too. If not they don't get to eat.
There are boys in cages everywhere in Mssr Poe's mansion. Hidden away so that no one else can see the source of music.

Quis Custodiet Ipsos Custodes?
Lanuarius: Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
Janvar: What kind of question is that?
January: He means 'who watches the watchers' or 'who guards the guardians', somewhere along those lines.
Janvier: Wiki'ed it. Look, says it's by a Roman poet named Juvenal!
Januar: We know him?
Janvier: Nope. That, I'm sure of.
Janvar: Why the sudden line anyways?
Janvier: Is this somehow related to us all, Lanuarius?
Lanuarius: Yes, look at it in our context for once.
Janvar: We look out for ourselves!
January: Quite true.
Janvier: Although admittedly we do end up being...skeptical. Or cynical.
Januar: Whaddaya mean?
Janvier: Er, I can't see a romantic scene without half of you behind me laughing your heads off or retching.
Janus: Bleargh.
Janvier: You spoil things for me sometimes. Can't you appreciate some gestures?
Janvar: I feel things like that to be a bit...cliched.
Yatyue: We all are different, but still same same.
January: Actually, we like that kind of mush. Gets us all mushy and fuzzy too.
Janvier: And we don't let ourselves get frightened too.
Januar: Weak.
Yatyue: Wei Januar you don't sot sot dei put us in dangerous situations can?
Janvier: We sometimes just don't loosen up enough.
Janus: Of course. We got to be aware of what we're doing, you know. How else do you think we got through all that alcohol and still drive home after clubbing? Each looking out in case the others couldn't.
Yatyue: Must keep face you know.
January: Who says we don't loosen up. How else did we end up in BodyJam, pray?
Janvier: Why can't we all agree on something?
Janvar: We'd advise caution. Watch your every movement.
Januar: Against what?
Lanuarius: Anyway our point here is to say this bit. Let us go with the flow for once? Do not think too much into what we want to do or have done except to just do it. After all, are we not happy?
Janvier: Thank you for that, Lanuarius.
Janvar: For all that we say we are and such, we're such a hypocrite.
Janvier: Shut up already.
Yes. We're happy with things. And we shan't spoil it.

Mobile Matters
"Hey. Just wanna tell you to put all indulgent spending on hold for these 2 weeks, just in case."
We had a good laugh when lad sent us that text message.
Now we know we've said countless times that mobile phones we buy ought to last 2 years at the least before we start looking at new ones. But as it is, we can't stand but itch to buy a new phone already - and yet another Nokia as it is.
We're looking at a couple of models at the moment, and sis and us are really having a debate between them. Sis says the Nok6300 is more suitable, we favour the Nok6120 Classic more functionally up-to-date. The Nok6267, initially introduced to the fight by the saleslady in Nokia, appealed in terms of friendliness of functionality but was blown out of the water when both sis and us teamed up against it's...aesthetic qualities (sorry ya Magus).
So we happened to walk into the store yesterday, to have a look at both models for comparison.
Sis proclaims the ease-of-use of the Nok6300. Even her friend's mum, who belongs in the category of a 'light mobile user' (read: just to make calls and maybe text people) found it easy to use. Plus it's cheaper.
We found the keypad a tad too small. Screenwise is fine. But there's no video calling!
We thinks the Nok6120 is about the same size-wise, and for a bit more you have video calls and a slightly bigger keypad. Then we find out that the operating system is S60 and not S40, which is a bit more complicated.
Shit. So difficult to choose.
"Prefer bigger keypad lah, so it's easier for mum to press the keys."
"The 6300 is simpler what."
"True also. Didn't know the 6120 is S60 wor. Don't think mum will ever get used to that."
"Don't get clamshell."
"Really? Mum doesn't like clamshell kah?"
"Clamshell not nice."
"Oh. Ok."
So yes. A bit of indulgent spending on our part and mum's getting a new mobile for her birthday. Heh.

Why Care Less
joeRY: so tonight is our first rehearsal for 2008
joeRY: i want u to join the choir
joeRY: come
Janvier: wat
Janvier: wat time?!?
joeRY: slap
Janvier: monday is jam and combat?
Janvier: so, what time?
joeRY: NO
joeRY: 8pm till 10pm
joeRY: i think u can pass as a baritone
Janvier: hokay hokay
Janvier: we does jam first
Janvier: then drop by
joeRY: really
joeRY: u wanna join choir ?
joeRY: ya tuhan ku
Janvier: if malu sampai mati, we'll pass the following times
joeRY: yay
Janvier: kakakaa
joeRY: cis
Janvier: must warn you our throat dah rosak
Janvier: long time no practise plus years of shouting in combat doesn't do wonders tau
So. Salesman joeRY came out of nowhere yesterday on MSN and gave us his salesman talk, and since we memang interested slightly so we thought no harm lah. Plus the place was nearby. If joeRY wanted us to join for somewhere that takes over 5 minutes to reach then we'll just stick to Jam and Combat, thank you very much.
As it is since the YKLS meeting starts at 8pm we could skip Combat (Tuesday also got mah) just so we could see what the YKLS was about. Turns out that with members coming and going every year, at least we're not the only new face there. However, we seemed to be the only one who didn't bother with auditions.
Auditions ok!? It's as if one cannot simply sign up - must pass check point first, haha. Even we're not exempted. Maybe when they require voices that sounds like ducks or frogs then we should join.
So the meeting went well, the only thing is that the director decided to try out a 'buddy system' by having each newcomer grouped with some old members. We've been so used to being antisocial in our past choir clubs that it spends our battery slightly faster lah. And to be sure, asides from joeRY and JOEry and Hil and the group we were buddied up with, the rest probably we shall forget names already by next week.
So anyways most of yesterday turned out to be ice-breaking with only a bit of vocal practise and introduction to the pieces they will be performing. Good to know that 3 years of BodyCombat have not ruined our throats permanently whatwith all that "KIA!" shouting.
Oh, and a quick test puts us in Tenor One (we memang know we're not meant for baritone, we used to be tenor all this time)! Tenor One! Wonder how long before our voice will crack then.
Shit. Seems like we are joining YKLS. :S

A Bit Of A Whoopsy
(From talking about wedding photos)
Janvier: a navy jacket?!
Psike: didnt know its as ccalled that
Janvier: it brings us to mind of one
Janvier: otherwise you'd call it a winter jacket?
Janvier: or just a coat
Psike: just coat
Psike: long coat mayve ...
Psike: coz its based on my leather jacket ...
Psike: which has almost the same dimensions
Janvier: anyways - find a chance to dress up in that for us to see
Janvier: dress up to office!
Psike: no im not dressing up for "casual" reasons
Psike: im not bringing it out recklessly ...
Janvier: come on!
Janvier: you dress up we dress up and shall go jap dinner
Janvier: egads the last time our coat saw use was in glasgow 2003
Janvier: what's the point of keeping such a coat if not to show off!
(And it goes on for a fair bit)
Psike: well there's that tea shop in Esplanade with $30 cookies
Janvier: something a bit longerlasting, thank you
Psike: the tin is recycleable ?
Janvier: show us, ok
Psike: i warn you ... $10 tea
Janvier: will we dress up?
Psike: i'll be from work
Janvier: bring coat along!
Psike: well the tea shop changed from Venetian -> English theme
Psike: so little less colourful
Psike: well its a quaint shop
Psike: shall i make reserve ?
So initially the idea was just to get Psike to dress up in his navy jacket (we'll have to check the term), but after a while we didn't entertain the idea much, due to not being too sure how our plans in Sporeland were gonna be. We would have called it off except that on the day before leaving to Sporeland we gets a text from Psike reminding us about coats.
Seems like he decided to take a nice photo in navy jacket to use for Facebook, and he's not starting an account until he has said nice photo. Not that he got the idea off us, because he hasn't seen our profile pic.
So we ended up at The Cookie Museum at Esplanade, having tea, sampling cookies and taking snapshots in lousy lighting.
The whole affair was...laughably salah. More so for him, because he goes there now and then.
See, there we both were, in suits, posing and taking photos more than half the time we were there. 'Course this meant swapping seats and trying out his coat as well. Sounds fine right? Given that it's at the Esplanade, dressing up didn't seem over the top too.
Yet it took the store owner to make us realize that, while what we were doing isn't an everyday occurance, it was also mistaken for something else instead of just 'guys wanting to take photos all dressed up'. When Psike called the store owner over to get her to bring out the cookie samples for us, she tried to anticipate what he wanted before he could finish his sentences.
Psike: Hi.
Store Owner: Hi, what can I do for you and your...? (hesitates)
Janvier: Friend.
Psike: Right. Can you-
Store Owner: Take a picture of the two of you?
Psike: Er.
Janvier: Maybe later.
Psike: See, he hasn't tried your cookies before-
Store Owner: And you want to him to buy some for you?
Psike: No! Well that is entirely up to him-
Janvier: He pretty much can get his own cookies.
Store Owner: Oh ok! I'll go get the trolley over.
Janvier: Right. Both our street creds are ruined much better here than spending an entire day in NUM.
Still, the cookies were good although a bit pricey at SGD30 a tin. As most of her range was out we only got to sample a few, and she even had slightly more adventurous cookies (and she called them 'savoury cookies'!) like the 'Nasi Lemak Cookie' and the 'Ikan Bilis Cookie'.
We got two in the end (no thanks to Psike who purposedly called for us to sample the cookies so we would end up spending money) - a tin for sis and one more for mum.
Of course, we knew things would be more awkward for him than for us really.
Janvier: Now she's gonna think that we're your boyfriend from KL.
Psike: I'll bring girl colleagues here next time.
Janvier: It's too late. She'll think they're your faghags.
Psike: Well at least you're going back to KL.
And to think, just before this our sister was telling us about how she inadvertedly character-assasinated one of her colleagues. And we managed to do that all by ourselves. Whoops.
The Pretty In Pink, consisting of peaches and white chocolate. Even the name didn't help against the impression she had, we suppose.
Whoops.
It's rare for the both of us to appear together.

"Casts Curaga On Janvier"
When one wakes up to an itchy throat and inner ear canal, dry lips, skin that feels slightly numb, and cold extremeties, that's when one goes, "Uh-oh," and prepares for invasion.
Initial defense measures include the dissolving of many efferverscant Vitamin C tablets and the sucking of lozenges.
Since a full blown-out attack hasn't emerge yet, it's best to explore the many forms of prevention from either a bacterial or viral infection. Let's see what are our options:
Sterilization with snow beer. This actually didn't do much except to make us numb and sleepy to the fact that we may be falling sick.
Sweat and heat treatment. Energy levels during Jam was flagging slightly but thankfully not too cardio. Sauna is good. Of course, after the whole thing we were really floating.
Rest and nothingness. Failed to do this one. Being under the weather with no mood to do anything is very distracting. Jalan about with no aim, the idea was to laze at Starbucks. But with no music (iPod), nothing to go online with and that we forgot to bring our Starbucks 2008 Diary card, we should have just gone home after gym. Whatmore we had no mood to do our Christmas shopping. 1st December already!
Boardgame Retreat At Selesa Hill Homes. Despite wolfx's many attempts to get us to go for this year's Retreat we had to pass. We've just came back from Sporeland and it's the Christmas month. No budget for the Retreat this year (oh and we know the thing is rather affordable too). Then again, considering the approach he took we might have had a better chance of feeling better...
Janvier: Zzzzz. Constitution -50! Shall stay close to the arms of sleep for now.
Wolfx: Casts curaga on Janvier. + 9999 to hp.
Janvier: Status: sleep!
Wolfx: Uses eye drops on Janvier. Wake up! Let's go.
Janvier: 0 gil!
Yes well some knowledge of Final Fantasy (or basic RPGs) does help understand what went on there. Well he's up there now breaking into the new Spiel '08 games, while we shall break open the Panadol strip. And more Redoxons. Oh dear low on Fisherman Friends!

Dear Sleep
Dear Sleep,
I'm sorry I haven't been spending much time with you nowadays. We're only together for four to five hours every night, which I admit, isn't quality time together. I do try to make it up with you on the weekends though, most weekends we spend nearly half the day together in my bed. Although yes, I agree with you that that's not the way how our relationship should be.
It's not that I don't love you anymore, I still do. You know how I don't want to leave you every morning. It's not as if I don't think of you anymore - I think about you everyday, especially when I leave for work, and even while at work too. I talk about you to my friends at times.
I admit, I wouldn't have known just how much I've been neglecting you if Alex did not confess to us about his relationship with you. I won't say that I was shocked, I knew we always had an understanding regarding our open relationship. You need to be with other people but you always came back to me, we have that special something. But I was a bit disappointed that you'd been paying Alex very regular visits too. I guess I've disappointed you one time too many too. Would a threesome with Alex be somewhere in our distant future, just to patch things up? I don't think so, people will object. Plus, I rather have you all to myself.
I'll confess that I've been spending time with your sibling Nap too. We met up during my lunch break, and we bond in my car. Yes, I admit I'm that weak, that I succumbed. Nap tried to see to my needs, but my mind was always on you! You, Sleep, You!
Just like how you need to be with nearly everyone else everyday (how lucky for you to be omnipresent), we too have to spend time with others, so that we aren't seen poorly by them. Internet is now our colleague at work, sometimes after work we do talk about casual matters. He also puts us in contact with other people. With Gym, well, we have a set timetable and he's never ever taken time away from you.
The Games and Hobbies families are a handful, and we need to dedicate time to certain family members every now and then. Boardgame is fine meeting up once every now and then. Console only calls us when he has something new that catches our interest. Portable is a keen kid, follows us everywhere to play with us when we're free. Reading joins us for mealtimes mostly. True, occasionally they all keep us from you. I'll have a chat with them about it.
All right. I won't make any more excuses. You know how I can't live without you. I'm addicted to you - I'm always reminded of your absence if I don't get enough of you. And I haven't been getting enough of you. Come back to bed. Be one with me again.
Yours always,
Janvier.

Food Fight
Warning: Food post with food pictures. Do not enter on empty stomach.
Now this most likely started early last year. You see, Bong (not Ah-Bong, mind) and us have this thing about sending pictures of food to each other - especially at odd hours. It started with him MSNing us pics of steaks of all sorts (and even a geoduck!). Then we reciprocated by MSNing him pictures of our supper. Then it got on to a point where instead of just waiting to get online and MSNing pictures to each other and causing each other to hunger for supper, we both gone onto MMSing each other.
So that was how the Mindfucking Food Fight began lah more or less. It's only mindfucking when a tantalizing food pic is sent so that it causes the other party to just think about food. We'll have a MMS that may look something like this:
To: Bong
Footlong & wedges in black pepper sauce. Taste Orgasm.
You get the idea. So yeah, our food fight went sorta on and off. We know we still occasionally MMSed Bong but wasn't expecting this from him though the other afternoon.
To: Janvier
Now this is what I call good BKT!
So hungry...
So Yummy...
Boss, add soup!
At around 12.30pm, before we even lunched. What a surprise. We didn't respond immediately but waited till 10.15pm to respond:
To: Bong
Subject: Just itchy
We were hungry for some meat dinner, and juicy sausages and steak fit the bill.
Now of course this wasn't what we actually had for dinner but rather a pic from our Meat Dinner at Fogal's.
Bong: I don't want 2 play this game anymore...
U very enjoy yourself hoh?
Ppl trying 2 sleep some more...
Haha... U just wait...
Luckily still got maggie mee...
Janvier: You know the best bit? Those were old photos taken some time b4 waiting for this to happen :D we'll be supping later.
Bong: Where is this place by the way?
Shit...
My stomach is seriously starting to growl.
Janvier Soldaaaat!!!!
Janvier: Fogal's Meat Market, Plaza Damas.
Bong: I...
shall off my phone.
Janvier: LOL.
And so that was it for that night. The following day during lunchtime however, we decided to check back on Bong.
Janvier: Is phone finally on? :-P
Bong: Phone is on. Stomach very full since just had heavy lunch. Ha!
Bring it on!
I not scare!
Janvier: You know we don't fire when defenses are heavy.
HOWEVER...
To: Bong
Subject: Need something extra
Have you had your fill of this yet?
Bong: U... U... U...
U r a very evil friend Janvier Soldat.
Please remind me not 2 friend u anymore.
I don't care! Lets have beer drinking competition tonight!
Well we didn't have a competition but we did have beer and Ramlee burgers. :D
Then out of the blue, another attack another night, this one 9 days after our last onslaught.
To: Janvier
super Spicy hot fishball + juicy bacon roll with fish fillings + refreshing tropical juice...
Such a perfect way 2 end a Sunday.
Hmmm... Still a bit hungry... Maybe can stop by for a double daging special tambah cheese on the way home!
Now we did really think that he was just sharing his happiness with us (after all lad and 'Vin might be getting the MMS too). But like Facebook where people throw things at you, we prepared a MMS back for him, sent a week later.
To: Bong
Subject: Good bones
Guess where? Yay not hungry anymore.
Bong: Tony Roma's?
Damn u!
I hope u choke on those bones!
Heh. Did you know Bong, we purposely ordered that plate of ribs just so that we could take a pic of it for MMS? Nevermind la, this Friday we're gonna go eat at Riblee's Restaurant ya for lad's birthday dinner? Can satisfy your craving for ribs then. :D
Oh, you know, our favourite response from you is still the one you sent us some time last year when we were having our late lunch at McD's Tun Perak. We still ate heartily after having a good laugh.
To: Janvier
Let me spoil your appetite. U sakai make me hungry again.

Stay Puff
Started off with mum asking us to check out Damansara Uptown for a new curry puff store she came across in the Star Metro. At that time we weren't too sure what kind of store we were suppose to look out for, nor were we sure of the name and the only clue we had was that it was located at the old Fajar store. It's supposed to be a curry puff store that's found so far only in Takashimaya Singapore or summat. Mum preferred their curry puffs over Old Chang Kee 'cos she got bored of OCK.
Needless to say, we didn't find the store then. Mum, with the Star Metro as her guide, found it on Sunday. We only got to try the Black Pepper Curry Puff then, which wasn't too bad as we heart black pepper.
When we were talking to SuperCel the curry puff store came up - and he did a good job getting us obsessing on the Durian Puff.
SuperCel: have you tried the durian puff?
SuperCel: OMG
SuperCel: it's FANTASTIC
Janvier: haven't tried the durian yet
Janvier: shall hunt for it one day
SuperCel: it's so good
SuperCel: it just melts
SuperCel: MELTS i tell you
Janvier: ok - i'm dying now
Janvier: goodness i'm salivating
Janvier: !slump
SuperCel: it's practically durian flesh wrapped in curry puff skin!
Janvier: *must be strong*
We was totally obsessed over the idea of Durian Puffs by now we tell you.
During the start of this week we passed by and found the store (finally!) only to find that we arrived too late - the store has already closed. So yesterday after our tour about Putrajaya we detoured off to Uptown to finally snag the Durian Puffs.
Oh yes. The aroma may remind you of the durian-flavoured ais krim potong but one bite and you literally melt along with it...
Surprisingly we didn't find the urge to continue whacking a second one straight after finishing the first. But that's good, considering that one costs RM2.60. So we had it for supper yesterday instead :D
Checklist:
Savoury - Crispy Curry Puff / egg, Crispy Sardine Puff,Crispy Black Pepper Chicken Puff, Crispy Otah Puff, Crispy Crab Chilli Chicken Puff, Crispy Veggie Puff.
Sweet - Crispy Yam Paste Puff, Crispy Sweet Corn Puff,Crispy Durian Puff.
Hmmm. Prolly 'cos it's rather sweet we didn't wolf the entire lot at once. We thinks we'll target the Otah and Crab Chilli Chicken Puffs only.
And wait till they come up with the Crispy Hershey's Puff.
Needless to say, we didn't find the store then. Mum, with the Star Metro as her guide, found it on Sunday. We only got to try the Black Pepper Curry Puff then, which wasn't too bad as we heart black pepper.
SuperCel: have you tried the durian puff?
SuperCel: OMG
SuperCel: it's FANTASTIC
Janvier: haven't tried the durian yet
Janvier: shall hunt for it one day
SuperCel: it's so good
SuperCel: it just melts
SuperCel: MELTS i tell you
Janvier: ok - i'm dying now
Janvier: goodness i'm salivating
Janvier: !slump
SuperCel: it's practically durian flesh wrapped in curry puff skin!
Janvier: *must be strong*
We was totally obsessed over the idea of Durian Puffs by now we tell you.
During the start of this week we passed by and found the store (finally!) only to find that we arrived too late - the store has already closed. So yesterday after our tour about Putrajaya we detoured off to Uptown to finally snag the Durian Puffs.
Gotcha. Opposite Affin Bank, same block as Guardian (so yeah, not at Fajar but near it).
Oh yes. The aroma may remind you of the durian-flavoured ais krim potong but one bite and you literally melt along with it...
We couldn't resist licking the Ginsu knife after slicing this, reckless us.
Surprisingly we didn't find the urge to continue whacking a second one straight after finishing the first. But that's good, considering that one costs RM2.60. So we had it for supper yesterday instead :D
Checklist:
Savoury - Crispy Curry Puff / egg, Crispy Sardine Puff,
Sweet - Crispy Yam Paste Puff, Crispy Sweet Corn Puff,
Hmmm. Prolly 'cos it's rather sweet we didn't wolf the entire lot at once. We thinks we'll target the Otah and Crab Chilli Chicken Puffs only.
And wait till they come up with the Crispy Hershey's Puff.

Good Morning!
Got an early MSN message from l'agneau orange yesterday morning, which went summat...
l'agneau orange: we gots it we gots it!!!!
Janvier: Your tickets
l'agneau orange: no
l'agneau orange: tats old news
l'agneau orange: GINGY :D
l'agneau orange: his legs be broken n reattached with icing haha'
Janvier: oooo
Janvier: great, now we're hungry.
Janvier: brb
Admittedly we too like Gingy. And we couldn't really make out what he was saying. We'd left him inside his plastic wrapping, eating breakfast at our desk. The fries and the seaweed seasoning was something like Mamee snacks nowadays, you pour the seasoning into the bag of fries and shake it about. 'Tisn't as salty as Mamee is tho', but nothing spectacular. Once we'd finished the lot, drinks and all, we'd wrapped up the lot and decided to dump it in the rubbish bin outside the office rather than in the pantry bin.
Somewhere after lunch l'agneau orange asks us if we made out what Gingy was saying. We turns to the spot where we last left Gingy - or so we thought. He wasn't there.
Flashback.
Rubbish bin outside office.
AAAAARGH!
Now not only did we dump our stuff earlier on when the bin was empty, after lunch everyone else have contributed their bit too, filling the bin to the brim. Our half-hearted prodding proved that we're not gonna be able to find our bag unless we dig deep. And we so do not want to be caught by the boss nor by anyone else digging in the bin for Ginny.
We could have come up with some excuse, like we'd dropped our Tiffany's ring (like we have one like that) in there or that Gingy's for someone else really...but no. If we said it was some valuable trinket then upon reclaimation of Gingy we've got some more explaining to do. And at the time we weren't capable of any fast talk if necessary.
Shit.
Goodbye Gingy :(
Worse yet, we're not too sure why we want Gingy - it's gonna end up being a forgotten decorative item somewhere (we thinks l'agneau orange's Gingy will end up sharing the dashboard with backflip Yoda from Burger King). It's just that we just get ours and lost it. So we're feeling rather bo kam wan and want another.
Yeeesh. And we know Gingy's rather popular, we're gonna cross our fingers there's still stock today.

Happy meal with baby grilled burger, fries with seaweed seasoning, ice milo, green drink with pineapple chunks, and Gingy!

Well, started like this. During our last trip to Camland we came across some shops selling miscelleneous stuff, but interestingly enough these shops had a glass counter with old Micro Genius cartridge games for sale too! So were did entertain thoughts that went:
Long time never play NES/Micro Genius games heh, always talk about it...might as well go get a set then can call friends over play rite? For old times' sake.
Evil thoughts. Especially since there's a multitude of emulators, remakes for the Game Boys/NDS as well as the Virtual Console on the Wii to think of...
But all those don't have the Turbo button ya?
Goodness no! Must save cash for Wii! And all my old cartridges all disappeared already!
Super Mar-
Nope. Plenty of them versions on the GBA. Try again.
Contra.
...Never did like Contra much, die so easily.
Up Down Up Do-
No!
Double Dragon II.
Uh.
TMNT 2.
Um. We'll give you DD2 but TMNT2 not so important leh. That your best?
We'll be back...
Well, it's been a long while since we've used the SNES emulators and if you're just up for a quickie (ahem) then it can feel a bit *leceh* to load up the emulator, the rom etc. Especially if all you want to do is just wait for a webpage to finish loading.
Enter Nintendo8.
Now that we're not so brash at games (we only had patience for the entire Mario series, even the Japanese version of Super Mario 2 aka The Lost Levels), we'll probably be able to play the games of our past properly. As a quick fix.
The Legend of Kage. Kung Fu. Adventure Island 1 & 2. Ghosts n' Goblins.....muahahaha...whut quick fix...
We're only going to play just a Wii bit...until the webpage loads! Just a short while!
Muahahahahaha...
